The Indiana Jones (Pyramid and Cave) Tour is great option for those interested in the idea of wandering about in the underbrush and jungle near the Puuc route to see Mayan ruins in their mostly-undisturbed state.
That means you will see Mayan carved stones up close and personal, under the brush, complete with a chultun (water well). There is also a magical dry cenote for exploring (you can descend via a rope and wood ladder or just admire it from up top) and descend into another cave entrance to explore at least the first cavern. There is much traipsing around in the brush with a guide who is most knowledgeable and will point out the local plants and some of their uses in traditional Mayan culture.
Definitely not for the faint of heart, this is a 2-4 hour hike and sweatfest.
Transportation to and from the site is about an hour in either direction.
The cost includes (air conditioned, comfortable and insured) transportation to the site, a cooler of refreshments, the tour fee and an English speaking escort.
If this sounds like something you would like to do, send me an email with a date and number of people, and I will get right back to you!
